Featuring some of the most charming towns on
the Cape – Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, and
Orleans – the Lower Cape is a hub of creativity.
It’s home to several performing arts centers,
including the Cape Cod Theatre Company in
Creative Arts Center
Harwich, which epitomizes the best in community
theater. Now in its 72nd season, the nonprofit’s
humble beginnings started with drama teacher
Betty Bobp’s dream to create a performance
space where individuals of all ages could
experience every aspect of the theater – set
design, playwriting, prop making, acting, and
directing. Today, it produces popular plays the
entire family will enjoy.
A similar atmosphere of artistry is on display at
Cape Rep Theater in Brewster, where an indoor
theater hosts a handful of plays from May to
December. Its outdoor theater is home to daytime
children’s shows throughout the summer. Like
Cape Cod Theatre Company, Cape Rep offers
classes for all levels and ages of theater artists;
it’s a great way to explore the magic of the stage.
